If you know you know, you know?

NEUROSPICINESS

Day Three of We Are Spicy and it’s been a real eye-opening week so far. We’ve been speaking to a fair few people in both the agency world and the neurodivergent one, and it appears that two things about We Are Spicy and our approach have struck a chord.
This is a pretty unique idea (way to go neurodivergent brains!) and
That when you get it – you get it. You 'know', you know?
So point one is a great complement and it’s part of our identity, that we are here to promote and nurture the potential of neurodivergent people. We haven’t come across any other marketing agencies that put that front and centre of their USP.
But the second point can be a little trickier to explain. Let’s dig a little deeper, shall we?
On our launch day, we had a great conversation with a potential client and they absolutely loved our concept. Why? Because they have a neurodivergent family member, and suspect they themselves might also be neurodivergent. Which means they ‘get it’.
They get the potential and power of a neurodivergent mind because they see it and they live it. They know how creative the neurodivergent brain can be (hence the gravitation towards the creative industries by the neurospicy).
They also know how focused, determined, passionate, innovative, forward-thinking and collaborative neurodivergent people can be. Yes, there are drawbacks to being neurodivergent (both inherent and external in nature) but when we are talking about putting our creative minds to creative situations – we rock.
So it’s great when a fellow ‘neurospicier’ wants to work with us – they know just what we can do and how good we can be.
Oh crap, what the hell is spicy?
But the neurotypical client might be thinking: “Oh oh – what’s this going to be like?” Or “Do I really want to work with a bunch of these spicy marketing people?”
Maybe they will think: “I'm not sure this lot are right for our business. they seem a bit 'out there'." Could they be wondering if because we are a bit different, whether we actually know what we're doing?
We are pretty sure that’s a yes, from at least a portion of the neurotypical population. And that’s cool – they don’t “get it”… Yet. They will, oh yes (mwah hah hah hah – rubbing hands together) they WILL! Ok, sorry that was a bit scary.
But the rest of the neurodivergent brain and personality really isn’t – we promise. Here are some of the attributes that us neurospiciers like to call “superpowers”. Yeah we hear ya – eye roll much. But it’s true – check this out:
We are highly creative
Neurodivergent people will always look to find a better, cooler, faster, cleverer way to do things (and not just for the sake of it but for exceptional output and real results). We are known as exceptional problem solvers and out-of-the-box thinkers. This makes for great and creative marketing. Dare we even say we do things with flair and panache?
We can hyper-focus
Neurodivergent brains quite simply are capable of producing outstanding amounts and quality of work. This doesn’t mean we rush our work – it simply means we are highly productive and you WILL get more value for money. Fact. End of.
We understand your customers
We are emotionally sensitive and have high levels of perceptiveness. This means we are able to understand your customer in a way that really helps you to understand them and connect with them as well. And we do this in a way a neurotypical brain could only hope to do.
We connect with you
Those emotionally sensitive brains also carry with them a desire to be the best we can be, and do the best we can for others. It means, quite simply, we care a LOT about our work, its quality and its impact for your business. You won’t get second rate work from us – we simply couldn’t allow it.
We give you the edge
A very diverse edge that is. Research has proven that businesses which have, and more importantly encourage, diversity, are more successful, more profitable and have happier, more engaged employees and customers. And when you bring a collective of neurodiverse brains together, that is magnified by 100x.
